There has been an increase in ATM skimming fraud in our area. Skimming devices can be installed on ATMs by fraudsters to collect your card information/PIN. This information is used to create fraudulent cards to withdraw money from your accounts. If you use an ATM, here are some tips to help keep your card and account information safe from skimmers:
Inspect the ATM before using it
Be suspicious if you see anything loose, crooked, or damaged, or if you notice scratches or adhesive/tape residue.
If you think the area around the card entry slot looks peculiar
Pull on it. If it comes off or loosens, alert bank management.
Cover your hand as you type in your PIN.
If a camera is present or someone is trying to look over your shoulder, this will obstruct their view.
If your card isn’t returned
After the transaction or after hitting “cancel,” immediately contact the financial institution that issued the card.
If it looks suspicious
The safest thing to do is not use it and notify the bank and authorities. FNCB Bank's Fraud Department can be reached by calling 1-877-TRY-FNCB.
