Donation will help provide scholarships for eligible families
First National Community Bank (FNCB), the largest community bank in Northeastern Pennsylvania, recently presented the Diocese of Scranton with an $85,400 donation from funds made available by the Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program.
The donation will help the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation provide tuition assistance to students enrolled in their pre-school, elementary and high school programs. Areas served by the Diocese of Scranton include Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe and Wayne counties where FNCB operates 21 community offices.
FNCB is a longtime supporter of the scholarship fund.
"As an organization dedicated to serving our community, we are delighted to once again have the opportunity to participate in the EITC program and help provide scholarship assistance to many deserving students in our area," said Joseph Earyes, FNCB First Senior Vice President, Retail Banking Officer.
Since 2001, the scholarship fund has awarded more than 8,000 scholarships with a value exceeding $5 million.
"We are most grateful for First National Community Bank's continuous commitment to the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation, said Jason Morrision, Diocesan Secretary for Development. "This generous contribution will directly impact the lives of families throughout northeastern Pennsylvania by providing students the opportunity to attend a Diocesan Catholic school, which offers an academically excellent environment that inspires and strengthens the spirit."
The support of the Diocese of Scranton represents part of FNCB's larger Community Caring initiative. Through outreach programs, donations and an employee volunteer network, FNCB is committed to helping the communities they serve.
Founded in 1910, FNCB supports its mission: Simply a better bank(tm) with an endless commitment to the communities we serve.
