Donation provides online resources for K-12 students
First National Community Bank (FNCB), the largest community bank in Northeastern Pennsylvania, today announced a $4,720 Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) donation to the Wayne County Public Library. The funds will help support online resources for students grades K-12, including the popular Homework Help program.
Through the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program, FNCB has contributed more than $181,000 in 2012 to eligible scholarship, educational improvement, and pre-kindergarten scholarship organizations across Lackawanna, Luzerne, Wayne and Monroe counties.
"Students enjoy researching on the PA Power Library, working with live tutors on Tutor.com and learning foreign languages on Mango Languages," said Mary Fritz, WCPL Outreach Coordinator. "We would like to thank FNCB for providing the financial resources for lifelong learning in Wayne County."
The support of the Wayne County Library is part of a larger educational commitment in the community that includes the Teaching Children to Save and Get Smart About Credit Programs. Through these financial literacy programs, area teachers are encouraged to schedule a classroom visit with a financial expert from FNCB who can offer lessons on basic savings, interest, budgeting, using credit cards wisely, understand a credit report and protecting personal information.
Educators interested in scheduling a credit or savings presentation for their classroom should contact Mike Cummings at 570-558-6722 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
