Employee fundraiser helps Food 4 Kids Weekend Program
Employees from First National Community Bank (FNCB), the largest community bank in Northeastern Pennsylvania, recently presented CEO People Helping People with a $631 donation for their Food 4 Kids Weekend program. The funds were raised through the employee sponsored Striking Out Hunger for Kids softball tournament held at McDade Park, Scranton.
The Food 4 Kids Weekend Program is an emergency food assistance program designed especially for children who are hungry and gives them access to non-perishable food for themselves and their siblings for the weekend or other times school is not in session. The program reduces the delay children experience between parents receiving assistance from a food pantry and preparation of the food at home.
The fundraiser is the product of FNCB's Emerging Leaders program. The Emerging Leaders program is a year-long professional development course that focuses on developing leadership skills and teamwork.
Participants in the program formed teams and designed projects aimed at meeting specific needs in the local community. In addition to helping CEO, FNCB teams developed projects to help the Children's Advocacy Center of NEPA, Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, Head Start and the Red Cross. Overall, Emerging Leader teams raised $5,000 and volunteered over 250 hours to their respective organizations.
The support of CEO People Helping People represents part of FNCB's larger Community Caring initiative. Through outreach programs, donations and an employee volunteer network, FNCB is committed to helping the communities they serve.
Founded in 1910, FNCB supports its mission: Simply a better bank(tm) with an endless commitment to the communities they serve. With 21 branches throughout Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe and Wayne counties, FNCB is the largest community bank in Northeastern Pennsylvania leading the way in personal, small business and commercial banking solutions.
