FNCB Donates $85,400 to Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation

First National Community Bank (FNCB), locally-based for over 100 years, today announced an $85,400 donation to the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation through the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program. Since 2010, FNCB has contributed over $1,000,000 to local educational and scholarship organizations through the program.

"As an organization dedicated to helping our local community, we are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in the EITC program and help provide scholarship assistance to many deserving students and families in our area," said Gerard Champi, FNCB Chief Operating Officer.

The Diocese of Scranton donation will help provide tuition assistance to students enrolled in pre-school, elementary and high school programs in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

"We are truly grateful for FNCB’s continued support of the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation through the EITC program,” said Jim Bebla, Diocesan Secretary for Development. “Each year, their generosity has enabled many families to afford a Catholic Education, and allows our students to grow spiritually and academically as the future leaders of our community,"

Each year, more than 1,000 families receive tuition awards, many of which have been funded through FNCB’s contributions.

The support of the Diocese of Scranton Scholarship Foundation is part of FNCB’s larger Community Caring initiative. As a true, local community bank, FNCB is making a difference through volunteerism, donations and outreach programs.
